Artificially Enhanced Reality

Artificially Enhanced Reality reflects on how images are increasingly edited, filtered, and digitally enhanced. Imperfections disappear, colours intensify, and reality acquires an increasingly polished aesthetic.

The orchid relief was overpainted with porcelain paints after the glaze firing. On closer inspection, the orchid appears too perfectly painted to have resulted from the glaze firing alone. The work itself has been artificially enhanced.

But what happens to the aesthetics of imperfection? Is flawlessness really more beautiful—or does perfection eventually become monotonous?
